Allied London have announced that a new community of weekend market traders will gather on the Old Granada Studios site for weekly markets beginning in April.
The new markets will bring the site back to life with street vendors, special community events and live performances.
Launching the markets on April 5 is Manchester’s own high end street specialist BITE, followed by the Finders Keepers flea market on April 6.
Every Saturday and Sunday, from 11am to 5pm, boutique stalls selling art and design, craft, gourmet food, as well as fashion and vintage collectables will operate in the new market site.
Old Granada Studios has also confirmed that April 12 will be a crafts market, and that local artists will run the space on April 13 with an art and design market.
Speaking about the decision, the organisers said: “Coinciding with the launch of the Coronation Street Tour, Old Granada Studios is set to become the must-visit destination for families, tourists and city dwellers alike.
“Hosted within an exceptional, quintessentially Mancunian setting, Old Granada Studios has inherited its culture and has embraced its world-renowned attributes and with the recent inclusion of the urban markets, this hugely iconic destination is set to be kept on the map for years to come.”
